Event Time and Date

Monday, August 19 2013, 12:00 PM to Tuesday, August 20 2013, 1:00 PM

Community Day is an exciting opportunity for incoming students to arrive two days early to explore the local community, build relationships with other students, and make connections. Approximately 100 students may sign up during orientation with a certain number of slots available at each orientation. Sign-ups are on a first come-first serve basis and will take place over lunchtime in the Central Dining Hall.

We expect that participants will:

  • Get a first look at exciting new opportunities for involvement
  • Learn more about your new home- Alfred and Allegany County
  • Provide meaningful volunteer service to local communities
  • Make new friends

Aug. 19 would be move-in day between 12 Noon-5 p.m. Programming will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a pizza party at the brand new Student Leadership Center. Aug. 20 will be the day of service with teams of students serving at volunteer sites throughout the area. The day will conclude with the “Taste of Alfred”- an incredible opportunity to sample food from all area restaurants right here on campus. Please consider joining us for this outstanding opportunity.
